- April/May Exhibits
The April 20-May 29 exhibits featured Shoji Satake with ceramics, Sarah Layne with drawings and paintings, and Renee Courtney with photography.
- Children Having Wonderful Time
This week the students in the Children’s Workshop are having a great time producing art! They made clay dessert bowls and clay owls, Andy Warhol Pop Art self portraits, comic book paintings, and Pop Art hamburger collages. And the week’s not over. Call 599-POTS and join the fun.
- CHILDREN’S WORKSHOPS
The weekly children’s workshops will start the week of June 8. Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - noon. Ages 6 - 12. The cost is $ 150. a week, and this includes materials. The last workshop will be the week of August 17. Each week different lessons will be offered so that children may take subsequent workshops. During the three hours, students will work in clay and other art media. Some of the clay lessons will be: pinch pots with impressions/texture, plates with coil decorations, slab self portraits, and mobiles/wind chimes. Other media will include landscape fabric assemblage, paper hamburger collage, and marbled paper dream depictions.
Space is limited, so you’ll want to register as soon as possible.
- Eddie Spaghetti Art Workshop
Artist Eddie Spaghetti Art will be conducting a printmaking workshop on Saturday, May 9, 2009, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Participants have the option of printing from a clay slab, a linoleum cutting, or from a mixed media relief. The cost of $ 40.00 includes supplies. Call Zenclay at 304/599-POTS or Eddie at 814/ 322-6463 because class spaces are filling fast.
- New Hand Building Class
The new hand building class starts Tuesday, May 5, 2009. This class meets from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. for six weeks. The instructor is Michael Rozzi, a WVU graduate in ceramics. The students will be making functional pieces using molds. 599-POTS.
- New Wheel Clay Classes
The new wheel classes start the week of June 22. There is a Beginning Class on Tuesday and another one on Thursday. The Intermediate/Advanced Class meets on Wednesday. These are eigth-week classes that meet 6:30 - 8:30. There is a Mixed-Level Class that meets from noon until 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
- Greenham/Rogers/Clements Exhibits
The exhibits held March 2 - April 17, 2009, featured Jeff Greenham showing ceramics in the Clay Gallery, Elizabeth Rogers with photography in the Cafe, and Cassandra Clements with oil paintings in the Upstairs Gallery.
- RDVIC GALA
Susan Ting is on the board of directors of the Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center (RDVIC)and is supporting the fund-raising Gala being held on Saturday, April 25. The event will be at Emmaus Hall on University Ave., Morgantown. The reception begins at 5 p.m., dinner starts at 6 p.m. and the first drawing will be at 7 p.m. There will be a 50/50 drawing and a silent auction throughout the evening. Tickets ($50. per person) can be purchased at Zenclay. Phone 304/599-POTS.
- WORKSHOP A SUCCESS
On April 4, twenty people enjoyed watching Jeff Greenham demonstrate his techniques for throwing, building, and decorating. He made a wall plate, a tall, two-section vase, and a flute vase. This was a great opportunity to see the process from concept to finished work.
